Animal ID: 13-12-12-00108Mini (female)
Mini is lovable, affectionate and enjoys snuggling next to you or tunneling underneath a blanket on the bed or on the floor. She is expressive, both physically and verbally: she will jump on her hind legs when she is excited (when treats are offered or she wants to be next to you). She has a variety of squeaks and barks that almost sound like words when you talk to her or ask her questions. We adopted her when she was 3 years old from a family with small children and 3 dogs, so she is comfortable with dogs and children. She is now 8 years old, weighs 16 lbs., and lives with our other 2 dogs, who weigh 30 lbs., and 69 lbs., so she is used to being in the submissive role. The reason we are placing her for adoption is that she was diagnosed with diabetes yesterday (12/11/13) and due to tight finances and irregular work schedules, we can not consistently provide the medical care she needs to stay healthy. We are looking for a loving home for Mini with an owner who has experience with diabetic dogs, maybe owns one already, and/or is comfortable with the insulin injection routine. She will be greatly missed by our family and friends who know her, so we are hoping someone who is a loving person, looking for a very loving dog, will adopt her! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-11-15-00400Fuschia (female)
Fuschia is a sweet little energetic girl that was saved from a rural shelter in Alabama. She is good with cats, dogs and loves people! She is approximately a year old and weighs 15 lbs. She is coming along well with her housebreaking skills and should do well with just a little encouragement from her new family. She is fully vetted, heartworm negative, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $250.

Animal ID: A380816Anna Bella (female)
ID #286 - Another try for our little diabetic Doxie mix! Hello Everyone, I am making one more attempt to find a way out for this little girl. We have named her 'Anna Bella', and she is just as sweet as her name applies. Her biggest issue is that it is very difficult for us to get her diabetes under control here at the shelter. She is also now struggling with a URI which certainly doesn't help her situation out. She will require insulin for the rest of her life, but once the diabetes is under control she can go on and have a very good life. Anna Bella is guessed to be about 8 years old and weighs 11 lbs. She came in as a stray on 10/25 and of course no owner ever showed up. We did have her evaluated and she was found to be a real sweetheart. She is very friendly and affectionate. She would be an excellent lap dog, and perfect for someone looking a low exercise, snuggle dog. She enjoys going for walks, and has been an excellent roomie with her kennel mates. If you are in position to give this little girl a safe haven, we would really like to hear from you. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 13-10-21-00003Lolly (female)
You couldn't get any sweeter than little Lolly. Only 8 weeks old when she was found alone and starving, she was taken to a shelter in Georgia. We rescued her the day she was scheduled to be put down, and this little girl shows her gratitude every second. At first she wouldn't come out of her crate unless coaxed with a treat, and then she'd scamper back in. She was so terrified, we can only imagine what awful experiences she'd already had in her short puppy life. Working with her gradually, she has gained our trust and now she runs up to us and even pushes up against us for affection. She is slowly gaining weight, her fur is becoming shiny and healthy, and she plays with the other dogs. She has all her vaccines and has been vetted and will need to be spayed when she is six months old. Now that Lolly knows she can trust people again, she is ready for someone to love her for the rest of her life. https://www.facebook.com/BHTBDogRescue (Less)
