Rescue Me ID: 16-09-03-00447One Eye Sam (male)

Miniature Pinscher Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered

This is another chapter of in the life of Sami- or One Eye Sam a a 13 pound chihuahua min pin mix,is a sweet affectionate boy whose family have run into difficulties. On July15, 2016 he was featured on the local daily courier- of Grants Pass- for his new dog house- after having been on a tie out- and a Bird of Prey picked him up-, but because he was on the tie out- the bird dropped him; but he suffered eye damage and was going to be euthanized- when the Toby Fund stepped in and paid for his surgery. And now another chapter of his life unfolds. For a time he was with another family member- and not allowed in the house. He was flea infested. ... (Read More)Not allowed in the house for a time- he needed to relearn his potty manners.. he is doing splendidly on this now. He does have to know you- and will love you with lots of butt wiggles; however strangers not so much. If you have people coming in and out- he needs to go into a crate for unknown visitors. So a home with minimal visitors is the order of the day. With my family of 3 adults- he does wonderfully. But when an unknown comes in- he goes in the crate! He is so very affectionate and loves to be with people. He gets on with other dogs of all sizes and breeds- except a foster buddy who as well is scheduled for neutering- so there is a bit of a dominance thing for him over the other. But he does get along with 9 out of 20 dogs. Cats are unknown. If there are children they need to be respectful- as he on occasion may be unsure of himself and quick movement toward him could make him nervous. He loves to cuddle- loves to play and romp and ride in the car. I think an older family would be best-. If you have another pooch- a meet and greet is in order. But I will say- he was plunged into a large pack and did very well. If left alone- he will whine- a bit.. but settles down. he is not destructive, is a light eater, and really eager to please. Please tell me about you, your family, other pets, yard, own or rent; your expectations of your new pooch, what pooch can expect from you! Please provide this information and city in which you live with contact phone number. This is not a first come first serve placement. The objective is to find the perfect home for pooch and family. If you do not provide requested information- please do not expect a reply to your inquiry. I will review all inquires. There is reasonable Fee requested to offset cost of neutering and rabies vaccine. (Less)
