Rescue Me ID: 14-09-21-00464Daria (female)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

Meet Daria a 3-5 year old purebred Min Pin who has had one heck of a life up until her recent rescue (about 6 weeks ago.) Daria was used at a puppy mill as a breeding mom for the entirety of her life so far. If you don't know what a puppy mill is, please google it and spread the word! She was caged 24 hours a day, in her own feces and urine and bred from her first head cycle constantly for 3-5 years. During that time she could have produced up to 2 litters a year. These 'breeders' then take the puppies away as early as 4 weeks old (when they should not be taken from their mother until 8-10 weeks), and sell them to pet stores and online. ... (Read More)They ship the puppies site unseen so that most people don't know how inhumane they are to the parents. Please never buy a puppy from a pet store or from a website that ships and spay/neuter your pets so these people go out of business! Now back to Daria. She is a teeny tiny and very shy girl who is very hesitant to approach people. She prefers to relax in her dog house or bark at strange noises. She is unsure what a couch is and does not like to be caught or handled (understandably so!) As stated above she has not had much human interaction. She was adopted but returned because she is hard to catch, is a fear biter and the owners other dog attacked her. She is very timid and shy, and gets confused when she is picked up so she will need someone very special to take her on and show her that humans can really show love and compassion! We are unsure how she would do with children, but we feel her ideal environment would be with dog knowledgeable adults, who have a stable quiet environment where she can relax and learn to trust. Rescue Me ID: 14-09-21-00321BoyYo (male)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Boy Yo is a gentleman miniature pinscher. He is approx 10-12 yrs old. He has had a rough start to life but you wouldn't know! He is SO mellow and calm and one of the sweetest dogs at our rescue. All Boyo wants is to be your companion and give and receive love. He is house trained, doesn't really bark much and he is crate trained. However, he would really prefer if you don't shut the door because he will go in on his own....as that is his room and his quiet place. He doesn't really play with other dogs, but gets along fine with them. Boyo would be perfect for someone who wants a laid back dog and who likes to go on walks. A calmer ... (Read More)environment would also better suit him and his gentle demeanor. Would be a great companion for seniors or adults who want a snuggle partner. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-21-00314Bentley (male)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

Bentley is a cropped and docked 4 year old MinPin who was surrendered by his owner at a high kill shelter in California approximately one year ago. He was rescued by LP4R shortly afterward. Bentley is a high anxiety and high energy boy so he will need an owner who is familiar with the breed, as well as dogs who are leash reactive. We believe he may have been tethered outside and trained as a guard dog before we got him. He will need consistent exercise and training and a special person to turn him around, but despite it all he really does love people. He is a gentleman to bathe and will sit on your lap and give you gentle kisses when he ... (Read More)trusts you and is relaxed. He does well with most other dogs so long as they are not picking on or bullying him. He is on high alert a lot of the time, and will alert you of any passing dog or stranger but I think a stable environment could really help with that. He absolutely needs a stable environment and obedience classes with a professional to live a normal happy life. He would not do well in an environment with small animals he may view as prey or small children. He needs a calm home without rough housing or people who are going to be yelling/running about. Dog/leash reactive experienced adults only, preferably with training knowledge or a dog trainer in mind. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-07-00339Poncho (male)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Fearful/Anxious

Poncho is a sweet boy, if you get to know him. He is outwardly aggressive at first, will lunge with mouth open and bark, but does not clamp down - this is nervous behavior. I am his third owner and can no longer meet his needs. Poncho needs a warm up period of a day or two with any new people, and has a difficult time being left home alone. He has responded well to prescription anti-anxiety medications in the past. Ideally, his new owner would be someone who works from home or someone who is not employed. He is great with both kids and adults after the appropriate 'get to know you' period (may take a few days, and is better with men). After ... (Read More)he is comfortable, he loves to snuggle, sleep under the covers with you, and sit on your lap. I have loved this dog unconditionally for five years and am just not able to meet his needs any longer. He is slowly losing his eyesight, and has been treated for joint health issues within the last two years. Great in the car, gets along with other dogs and with cats. I am hoping that someone can love him as much as I do, but be able to spend more time with him and look after his needs better. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-01-00171Lilly (female)

Miniature Pinscher    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Let me introduce you to Lilly. She is a 6 year old miniature pincher without the cropped ears. She weighs around 12lbs and has a serious appetite so she cannot have food left out for her to eat at her leisure. She is an incredible loving lap dog who loves to cuddle and burrow in blankets. She gets cold easily and likes to wear a sweater during the fall and winter. She is very happy and playful dog and loves to play fetch and tug of war with bones and ropes. Always happy to go for walks and car rides and does very well with both. When on walks she is indifferent to other animals and has never shown aggression to anyone. She does get nervous ... (Read More)around small children and people approaching her face with two hands. She currently lives with three dogs and a cat and has no issues with any of them. 4 years ago she was diagnosed with Addisons disease and requires specialized medication and food. Total yearly medication and food expense is approximately Daily - Steroid (1/4 of a 5 mg pill) administered in a piece of cheese. The Prescription normally lasts 4 months. Royal Canine low fat intestinal dog food - %BD cup twice a day. Large bag lasts about 2 months. Milk Thistle - over the counter dietary supplement capsule that we pull apart and sprinkle on her food at dinner to help with her liver function (this isn't required but was recommended by the vet). Bottle lasts 90 days. Monthly - Percorten (every 21-24 days) - this is the main medication for her Addisons treatment. This is administered as a subcutaneous shot (.35ml) and the bottle lasts approximately 11 months. We currently have an 8 month supply remaining. Our family is going through life changes that will prevent Lilly from receiving the love and attention she deserves. She is really an incredibly loving dog and would make the perfect pet for a retired person or a family with no children that can show her the attention she deserves. Please consider parenting this great animal. (Less)

lnteresting Miniature Pinscher Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
Miniature Pinschers are called Zwergpinschers in Germany, which literally means Dwarf Biter. Miniature Pinschers are not considered to be a toy breed in their native Germany; they are one of the oldest Terriers. Miniature Pinschers have been depicted in art for centuries. Miniature Pinschers are often mistakenly called Miniature Dobermans, but they are not related to Doberman Pinschers.
